Its product portfolio includes various devices from the Impella family. The Impella 2.5 is a tiny percutaneous heart pump featuring an integrated motor and sensors, alongside the Impella CP, which is utilized by interventional cardiologists in catheterization labs and by cardiac surgeons during operations. Other Impella models such as the 5.0, LD, and 5.5 are also percutaneous micro heart pumps, primarily employed in surgical settings. The Impella RP is a percutaneous catheter-based axial flow pump. Beyond the pumps, Abiomed offers the Impella SmartAssist platform, which leverages optical sensors for precise pump placement and uses algorithms to enhance native heart function assessment during patient weaning. Its Impella Connect system provides secure, cloud-based remote monitoring of the automated Impella controller for medical staff. The company also markets the OXY-1 System, a portable device for external respiratory support. Furthermore, Abiomed is actively developing several innovations, including the Impella ECP pump for high blood flow rates, the Impella XR Sheath for smaller access during Impella procedures, the Impella BTR percutaneous micro heart pump, and preCARDIA, a catheter-based superior vena cava therapy system aimed at quickly addressing acute decompensated heart failure. Abiomed distributes its products globally through its dedicated direct sales and clinical support teams, reaching regions such as the United States, Japan, Canada, countries across Europe (including Germany and France), Latin America, the Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.
