The company's diverse activities are organized into four core segments. Its Upstream division is dedicated to the exploration, development, and extraction of oil and natural gas, primarily in Brazil, Mozambique, and Angola. The Industrial & Energy Management segment is responsible for its refineries in Portugal, oversees the management of energy encompassing oil products, gas, and electricity, and maintains the essential infrastructure for storing and transporting these resources. This segment also supplies electricity to the national grids of Portugal and Spain. Through its Commercial segment, Galp distributes oil, gas, and electricity directly to a wide array of customers, including both businesses (B2B) and individual consumers (B2C). The Renewables and New Business segment spearheads sustainable energy initiatives by developing solar and wind power generation projects in Portugal and Spain. This division also engages in the production of biodiesel, biofuel, and green hydrogen, and manages a substantial network of 1,480 service stations and 1,186 electric vehicle charging points. Additionally, the company participates in the reinsurance sector. Established in 1999, the firm changed its name from Galp – Petróleos e Gás de Portugal, SGPS, S.A. to Galp Energia, SGPS, S.A. in September 2000, and is headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal.
