About IVERIC bio, Inc.

IVERIC bio, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical enterprise focused on identifying and advancing innovative therapeutic solutions for eye conditions, with a particular emphasis on age-related and rare inherited retinal diseases (IRDs). A cornerstone of its development pipeline is Zimura, an inhibitor targeting complement factor C5. This compound is currently undergoing investigation for geographic atrophy (GA), a severe form of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Zimura's clinical progression includes the GATHER1 trial, which has successfully concluded its Phase 2/3 stage, and the GATHER2 trial, which is presently in Phase 3. The company's portfolio also features STAR (identified as OPH2005), a candidate in Phase 2b clinical trials for addressing Leber congenital amaurosis type 10 (LCA10) and autosomal recessive Stargardt disease (STGD1). Additionally, IVERIC bio is developing IC-500, a high-temperature requirement A serine peptidase 1 protein inhibitor intended for GA and other forms of age-related retinal degeneration. Other programs include IC-100, aimed at rhodopsin-mediated autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa, and IC-200, designed for IRDs stemming from mutations in the BEST1 gene. Beyond these active programs, the company has completed several earlier clinical trials: OPH2001, a Phase 1/2a study evaluating various doses of Zimura monotherapy for GA; OPH2000, a Phase 1/2a trial assessing different doses of Zimura combined with Lucentis for wet AMD; OPH2007, which concluded its Phase 2a study for wet AMD; and OPH2002, a Phase 2a trial for idiopathic polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. In its earlier-stage research and discovery efforts, IVERIC bio is exploring programs such as miniCEP290 for LCA10, miniABCA4 for STGD1, and miniUSH2A for Usher syndrome type 2A-related IRDs. Established in 2007, the company, originally known as Ophthotech Corporation, adopted its current name, IVERIC bio, Inc., in April 2019. Its operations are based in Parsippany, New Jersey.
